Ethical & Clinical Assessments

Not necessarily. The paediatrician will determine diagnosis and management based on their own clinical assessment, which may differ from opinions provided by other professionals or those required for NDIS funding.

Please bring the following items if applicable:

  • School counsellor or teacher reports outlining concerns
  • Completed Vanderbilt Assessment (parent and teacher versions) for ADHD or learning concerns. This can be searched online.
  • School academic reports
  • Allied health reports
  • Imaging results (X-rays, CTs, MRIs)
  • Pathology results
  • Reports from other medical centres or paediatric clinics
  • A list of current and previous medications (including dose)
  • physical bank card linked to a savings account (not a credit card) for same-day Medicare rebate processing
  • Legal documents (e.g. court orders, DV orders, custody documentation)

If the school has concerns about learning difficulties (e.g. dyslexia), please request the following assessments from the Guidance officer, where possible:

  • WISC-V / WPPSI-IV
  • WIAT-III (or any equivalent test that is available at your child’s school)

These reports are important for assessing IQ and ruling out Specific Learning Disorders and should be provided before the appointment, as limited school information may restrict clinical support.

Yes, and it is encouraged where possible to support the best outcomes for your child.

Yes, unless a court order restricts access.

We require written confirmation and a signed letter from the parent making this claim.

No. It is the responsibility of the parents requesting care.

A second appointment will be required, with an additional private consultation fee and no Medicare rebate.

Scripts & Medication Requests

Yes. Follow-up reviews are mandatory before issuing repeat scripts. Most medications require 3–6 monthly monitoring.

No. Scripts are not provided solely on parental request without review.

Repeats are issued based on when the next review is due. Future appointments are usually booked at checkout.

Schedule 8 scripts (e.g. Ritalin, Vyvanse, Dexamphetamine, Concerta) expire after 6 months.

Our policy is that our paediatricians are unable to provide prescription authorities for controlled medications without an up-to-date medical review. As these medications require ongoing monitoring, a patient’s circumstances may have changed since their last consultation.

If you wish to arrange follow-up care with your GP, you are welcome to do so. However, any decision to prescribe these medications will be at the GP’s discretion and based on their own clinical assessment and judgement.

All correspondence and specialist letters have already been forwarded to the referring GP,

Your local pharmacy can retrieve it through the e-script ASL system.
Please ensure you keep the repeat token provided by the pharmacist.

  • 1-month supply only may be issued
  • An appointment must be made
  • $30 administrative fee applies
  • Processing may take up to 7 days

Child Presence During Consultation

Yes. Please inform the paediatrician if you prefer your child not to be in the room for part or all of the consultation.
