Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Referrals & Medicare
Who should the referral be addressed to?
The referral must be directed to Dr Kai (Khairul Ismail) at Little Angels Paediatrics.
How long does a referral last?
Each referral is valid for 12 months from the date of issue.
Ethical & Clinical Assessments
Will the paediatrician always agree with other diagnoses?
Not necessarily. The paediatrician will determine diagnosis and management based on their own clinical assessment, which may differ from opinions provided by other professionals or those required for NDIS funding.
What Should I Bring to the Appointment?
What school assessments may be required?
If the school has concerns about learning difficulties (e.g. dyslexia), please request the following assessments where possible:
- WISC-V / WPPSI-IV
- WIAT-III (or any equivalent test that is available at your child's school)
These reports are important for assessing IQ and ruling out Specific Learning Disorders and should be provided before the appointment, as limited school information may restrict clinical support.
Appointment Confirmation & Cancellations
What is your cancellation policy?
- Please notify us at least 48 business hours before your appointment to cancel or reschedule
- Failure to attend, late cancellations, or not responding to SMS reminders will result in:
- Forfeiture of your deposit
- Cancellation of the appointment
- The appointment being offered to another child
Is a new deposit required after cancellation or non-attendance?
Yes. A new $150 deposit is required to rebook. This deposit will be credited toward your next appointment.
How can I contact the clinic if I can’t get through by phone?
Please email admin@drkai.com.au.
Due to high demand, responses may take up to 7 working days.
Families With Separated Parents
Can both parents attend the appointment?
Yes, and it is encouraged where possible to support the best outcomes for your child.
Do both parents have access to medical records?
Yes, unless a court order restricts access.
What if one parent claims the other cannot make decisions?
We require written confirmation and a signed letter from the parent making this claim.
Is the clinic responsible for communicating with the other parent?
No. It is the responsibility of the parents requesting care.
What if both parents are required for decision-making but one cannot attend?
A second appointment will be required, with an additional private consultation fee and no Medicare rebate.
Scripts & Medication Requests
Are follow-up appointments required for medications?
Yes. Follow-up reviews are mandatory before issuing repeat scripts. Most medications require 3–6 monthly monitoring.
Can scripts be issued without a review?
No. Scripts are not provided solely on parental request without review.
How many repeats will I receive?
Repeats are issued based on when the next review is due. Future appointments are usually booked at checkout.
What about Schedule 8 medications (e.g. ADHD medications)?
Schedule 8 scripts (e.g. Ritalin, Vyvanse, Dexamphetamine, Concerta) expire after 6 months.
What if I lose my e-script?
Your local pharmacy can retrieve it through the e-script ASL system.
Please ensure you keep the repeat token provided by the pharmacist.
What if medication has run out and no review appointment was booked?
- A 1-month supply only may be issued
- An appointment must be made
- A $30 administrative fee applies
- Processing may take up to 7 days
